SIMOTECH, experts in the field of Automation and Manufacturing IS delivery, launched their new headquarters in Carrigaline yesterday, creating 30 new engineering jobs in the process.
TD Michael McGrath officially opened the new headquarters, announcing the creation of 30 specialist engineering roles in automation, IT and validation.
Speaking at the opening, Mr McGrath said: “I am delighted to be here to support the launch of SimoTechs’s new offices and to announce that SimoTech has already begun recruiting for 30 new positions which will be filled over the next 2 years.
“SimoTech is a great example of the type of high tech growth potential for business in the area of science and engineering to support the ongoing expansion of the Biotechnology sector.”
SimoTech, which was founded by owner and Managing Director Pat Desmond in 2011, has already achieved an average growth of 70% year on year.
“Our business has doubled in size each year for the past 4 years,” said Mr Desmond.
“We already employ 38 people and are currently recruiting another 30 engineers.
“This expansion will allow us to continue providing engineering expertise to our existing global clients as well as growing our client base, both here in Ireland and abroad.”
However, Storm Ophelia almost hindered the opening of the new headquarters, leaving SimoTech without power from Monday morning until Tuesday evening.
“We were left without power on Monday and Tuesday which were the days we were to receive the supplies we needed to open on Friday,” said Marian McGurrin, recruitment business manager.
“We’re blessed to have such great suppliers from around Cork who worked around the clock over the past few days to ensure we could open,” she added.
“Many of our suppliers were also without power early in the week so it’s been a hectic couple of days with everyone in the office trying to get everything ready in time but everything worked out.
“We’re delighted to be launching our new headquarters and everything is going exactly to plan now.”
SimoTech currently works with several global pharmaceutical/biotechnology clients, in Ireland and in Europe.
Mr Desmond has over 30 years’ experience in leading project teams to deliver fast-track projects, from concept design to manufacturing operations, providing high-quality automation and manufacturing systems, professional services and solutions to the life sciences industry.
