Frank Burke has released a statement to confirm he is a candidate to become the President of the GAA.

The Galway County Board confirmed Burke's intentions in a media release today.

"At Provincial level, Frank was elected President of Connacht Council (2012-2015) during which time he represented Connacht on the GAA National Management Committee."

Kerry's Sean Walsh and Longford's Martin Skelly are also in the running. The election will take place in Croke Park in February 2017.

Cavan's Aogan O'Fearghail is set to step down as President in February 2018.
