Wedding of the Week: Saying 'I do' on a birthday...

THEIR paths first crossed when they were 15, as they shared the same weekend and summer job, at their local hotel.
Fast forward to the end of 2019 and Norah Hurley, from Ballinhassig, and Damien Crowley, from Innishannon, wed.
Nora is a hairdresser, who co-owns Biba Hair Salon in Bishopstown, and Damien is a groundsman for a local business in Ballinhassig.
They were married in St Mary’s Church, Innishannon, followed by a wedding reception in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Little Island.
“We were joined by all our family and friends and the lovely Fr Finbarr Crowley celebrated it for us,” said Norah.
They met when they were 15, but 12 years later went on their first date.
“We’re still debating who made the first move,” joked Norah.
Three years later they welcomed their gorgeous daughter, Frankie-leigh.
In December, 2018, on a trip away to Killarney, Norah’s favourite getaway, Damien proposed. He had gotten a ring, which she had seen a few years earlier in New York, made especially for her.
They picked November 29 as the wedding date.
“We always wanted to get married around Christmas, this was the nearest I could get to it as December is always so busy for me at work ... also it was Damien’s birthday so he couldn’t forget the anniversary,” she said.
Make-up was by Liz Desmond (makeup by Lola). Lynsey O’Leary did the hair.
The cake was by Trace of Cakes, while JHVisuals was the videographer and Mark Coombes the photographer.
Norah said the special guest on the day was their daughter.
“Our day was as much about Frankie-Leigh as it was about us. She was involved in everybit of it and even sat between us at the top table and joined in for every giggle and cheer.”
Included in the bridal party was Norah’s sister Rita as maid of honor, two friends (both Sarahs) and junior bridesmaid, Norah’s lovely niece Anna.
Damien’s party included his friend Aidan as best man, while groomsmen were his brothers Shane and Aidan and his friend Brian.
Norah’s parents Jim and Frances and Damien’s parents Nuala and Teddy were also there, as were Damien’s sister Majella and Norah’s brother James, who also played major roles in making their day run smoothly.
“We’d like to thank everyone who made our day so special and memorable for us... we enjoyed every second,” the couple said.
